and the cost of a passage home is that of one by the
Japanese Mail, the cheapest passage which can be taken.
If my figures are correct if follows that the proposed
salaries of the Headmistress and the Assistant Headmistress
must also be considered inadequate, and I think that
they are.

The salary therefore that I recom-
mend for the post is $115 a month rising by triennial
increments of $20 a month to $155. I cannot see my way
to recommend less. The minimum salary is just enough to
live on and the maxinum is only a reasonable increase on
it, and is in accordance with the scale on which the
salaries for the Masters at Queen's College.are fixed.
